Water treatment schemes comprising combinations of low dose ozonation, GAC filtration, slow sand filtration and hyperfoltration, and their effect on pesticide removal, are investigated on a pilot scale using Rhine water pretreated with coagulation, sedimentation and rapid filtration (averages: DOC=2.1 mg/l, UV_254=6.0m~-1, turbidity=0.24FTU, T=14.6 deg C, pH=7.8). The research is part of a broader range of activities concening the future capacity extension of the Water Supply Amsterdam.
