Abstract: Imagine a work of art that contained something from every person in the world. What would it look like? How big would it be? What would it mean? These are just a few of the questions I have been asked over the past two years, with the beginning of World Art Project, in an exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, in October of 1988. At that time brown paper grocery size bags were printed with all the World Art Project information on them. Some 5,000 of these bags were sent to various countries in the world, to people from all walks of life. These bags marked the beginning of the World Art Project. The World Art Project is a lifelong project to build one work of art from the materials I receive from people from all over the world. The goal is to collect something from everyone. !0
