The high modulus asphalt concrete has experienced in France a significant development over the past 20 years. This paper investigated the volumetric and Marshall performance properties, and design method of high modulus asphalt mixtures. By the studying the French application, this paper studies the design methods of high modulus asphalt concrete with the PR Modulus additives. Marshall tests were performed to measure the volumetric and performance properties of high modulus asphalt. It studies the high-modulus mixtures with the Marshall method which is predominately used in China. This paper puts forward the test controlling index of the Marshall method. This research results show that high modulus asphalt mixtures designed by Marshall method can meet demands of our country's specifications.
