Introduction Plant polyphenols are a large and diverse class of polyatomic phenol which occurs naturally in some parts of plants, and their molecular weight ranges from 500 to 3000. The methods of synthesizing solidified tannin include methbond condensation and graft, which can produce solidified tannin on macromolecule substrate by either method (Di Ying and Shi Bi 1998). The synergetic effect of macromolecule substrate and plant polyphenols can extend the application domain of plant polyphenols (Zhaoyi Xu and Quanxing Zhang 2000). In this paper, a new kind of adsorption resin with multi phenolic hydroxyl was created by immobilizing black wattle bark tannins to chloromethyi polystyrene resin, and its best synthesis condition and adsorbability were studied.
