Introduction Cyclic fatigue is a damage process that can occur in timber joints with laterally loaded metal nails subject to large amplitude slip during events such as earthquakes. Potential for such damage is the greatest in timber-to-timber joints with high-density members and steel plate-to-timber joints. To fully examine the fatigue behavior of nailed timber joints a deep understanding of the effect that loading waveform and frequency might have are essential, in this paper, a displacement-controlled cyclic loading mode was given in the nailed timber-to-timber joints with main applicability to seismic events.
