Researches on coupled model of stream and aquifer are of vital importance for water resources assessment. This paper established coupled numerical model of stream and aquifer by the relation among river stage, the elevation of semi-permeable layer and groundwater level and also described the hysteresis of river leakage with deep groundwater depth. This method is used to the interrelationship analysis between Heihe River and groundwater at the middle reaches of Heihe River Basin, and results are logically coinciding with local hydro-geology condition. The results also demostrated recent human activities have degrated the relationship between surface water and groundwater from groundwater discharge to groundwater gain.
