Application on Developing the Properties of Grain Oriented Silicon Steel by Laser Nitriding Technique

Laser nitridation in an atmospheric ambient was applied to develop the properties (such as improving the aging property and decreasing the core loss) of Z8 brand grain oriented silicon steel with the thickness of 0.23mm. The samples were nitrided with scanning nitridation space of 9mm, laser power density of 7.8x10~9 w.m~2 and scanning speed of 100mm.min~(-1). The nitrided samples were annealed at different temperatures from 100℃ to 900℃. The core loss of nitrided samples before and after annealed were tested respectively. The results show that the core loss of the nitrided samples decreased by 14.9%, after annealed at 800℃, the core loss is still lower than the original value, that is to say the aging property was improved up to 800℃.
