Steel and concrete composite structure is adopted in the main towers of R T. Bridge, which is a prestressed concrete extradosed bridge with corrugated steel webs. The top part of the tower, where extradosed cables are anchored, is a steel box cell. It will resist against the axial force, shearing force and bending moment in the early stage of construction and this area will be covered with concrete at the late stage. Steel box cell and concrete are connected with stud dowels of the diameter 25 mm. They are arranged horizontally and 50 N/mm~2 high strength concrete will be cast in the vertical direction. These are different from the usual - condition of conventional steel composite girder bridges. Authors conducted the push-out tests to study the behavior of the horizontal stud dowel with vertical concreting. Furthermore non-linear FEM was carried out to analyze the distribution of shearing force to each stud dowel, because lots of stud dowels were arranged in the multi levels. This paper will describe the result of the experiment and the analysis.
