Recently, late transition metal catalysts become a focus in the field of polyolefin. They have the same advantages as metallocene catalysts such as single active site, possibility of tailoring molecular and controlling properties of polyolefin. In addition, their less oxophilic characteristic is more attractive because it may open up the possibility for copolymerization of olefin with polar comonomers, which can produce more functionalized polyolefin materials with large value for commercial application. As to homogeneous metallocene catalyst, they are usually supported on inorganic or polymeric materials for adapting to the gas phase or suspension process in industry. Moreover, with these supported catalysts, better morphology of polymers can be obtained with lower fouling. However, there is a few research on supported late transition metal catalyst. Herein, we reported the synthesis of one silica-supported late transition metal catalyst and traced the supporting process via XPS, FTIR and SEM measurements.
