TIANSHENGQIAO-l CFRD - MONITORING PERFORMANCE -LESSONS NEW TRENDS FOR FUTURE CFRDs (CHINA)

Tianshengqiao l Dam (hereinafter TSQ-1) was completed in 1999 and the reservoir has been partially filled during rainy seasons of 1998 and 1999, reaching 92% of the total head. Six hundred twenty instruments were installed for monitoring the dam performance. Conventional and modern instruments used in TSQ-1 are presented along with the major trends and significant values recorded by the instrumentation. Behavior of both the instrumentation and the dam are analyzed. Some lessons learned in TSQ-1 are shown up and based on them new trends for the instrumentation are suggested aiming to contribute for future high CFRDs, especially in China where this domestic experience might be applied in CFRDs as high as TSQ-1 or even higher, currently under design.
