A Study on Facility Planning at International Expositions

摘要

This paper is aimed at presenting a new perspective of generally accepted facts. The international exhibition held in London in 1851 is generally considered to be the first international exhibition held in the world. Its success led to many highly successful exhibitions to be held throughout the world. However, as their numbers increased, it has become clear that the purpose of expositions has changed. Basically, the exposition is a showcase for exhibits and technology to the world. In addition, it is an opportunity to display the power of nations as well as that of private companies. Recent expositions are aimed at presenting a new sense of values to the public, while facility planning has also changed its focus from large-scale exhibition halls to individual pavilions and external space.
