Indirect evaporative cooling (IEC) and desiccant dehumidifying (DD) is very effective method for precooling outdoor air in air conditioning system. Capillary power loop (CPL) heat pipe heat exchanger is a very effective device for transmitting heat at high rates over considerable distances with extremely small temperature drops, reversibility, exceptional flexibility, simple construction. It will be quite extensively used in air conditioning system for heat recovery. This paper presents the application of CPL heat pipe heat exchangers to indirect evaporative cooling and desiccant dehumidifying. The study involves the system analysis of indirect evaporative cooling and desiccant dehumidifying using CPL heat pipe heat exchangers. CPL heat pipe heat transfer principles and capillary limitation are analyzed. The performance of this indirect evaporative cooler and desiccant dehumidifier for hot climate is simulated.
