In Hong Kong, the number of construction accidents is relatively high. Taking 2002 as an example, there was a total of 6,239 accidents, including 24 fatality cases in the construction industry. Among various categories, "fall of person from height" was the most significant one causing fatality. In 2002, 63% of the fatal accidents occurred on construction sites were categorized as fall of person from height. It indicates that there is a need to reduce the number of falls in the construction industry in Hong Kong. This paper aims to examine the site supervisors' view regarding construction fall accidents related issues such as safety measures, safety procedures and hazards of working at height. A safety workshop was conducted to solicit the views from the site supervisory staff. It was found that the potential fall hazard of working at height is the improper use and erecting of scaffold. Fall injuries are more likely to happen in maintenance works than in new works. Poor safety attitude and behaviors of workers and lack of resources are main problems in implementing safety procedures and guidelines.
