The Mau-Loh-Hsi Bridge is a cabled-stayed bridge with a steel arch pylon located in central Taiwan. The bridge is innovative in the sense that the steel arch built on one side of the Mau-Loh-Hsi Creek serves as the single pylon of the unsymmetric, three-dimensionally curved bridge. An ambient vibration test was performed on the arch pylon during the construction stage for identifying its dynamic characteristics. The multivariate AR model (ARV) was employed to process the data collected in the ambient vibration test. A comparison of the experimental results with those obtained by a finite element analysis reveals that both approaches are well correlated, indicating that the finite element model used in design are reliable, and that the role of the steel arch as the key supporting component of the bridge can generally be assured.
