Winter Zvenigorod Cloud-Aerosol-Radiation Experiment (ZCAREX-99) was conducted February 1 ― March 5, 1999 in the framework of the ARM Program. Spectral (0.4 - 25 μ.) and total radiative fluxes, meteorological parameters, cloud base heights, aerosol characteristics, water vapour and other trace gases ( including CH_4, NO_2, CO, O_3 , NO) were obtained from ground-based measurements. Aerological sounding and satellite AVHRR/NOAA14 data have been used to determine the temperature and water vapour profiles and cloud top heights. Using these data radiative fluxes in the cloudy and cloudless atmosphere have been computed and compared with observations at the ground. A satisfactory agreement was found. This allows us to estimate atmospheric absorption and cloud radiative forcing in winter cases with high surface albedo. Estimates of water vapour continuum absorption for 16-25 μ, data for the transparency window 8-12 μ are in the treatment processes.
