A simple non-inverting buck-boost power supply is presented. The circuit is used for those applications were the supply voltage is above or below the output voltage. The output voltage is not inverting or negative of the input. In the newer automotive engine control module applications the battery connector voltage could drop to 3.0 Vdc during engine starting, a microprocessor can be reset when using linear regulators. This buck-boost circuit allows the output voltage to remain regulated during these times. This circuit is easier to compensate for stability when compared to the Cuk and Sepic converters. There is only one main pole, one inductor and one output filter capacitor. This buck-boost circuit does have a right-half plane zero.
