In order to assess the effect of different fertilization on nutrient dynamics and balance in sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.), a research was done using data from 60 farmer's plots of sugar cane in Morelos, Mexico, in a period of 4 years. Date were obtained of foliar samples taken each 2 months, and analyzed to determine N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn and Zn. This information was used to describe the dynamics of the nutrients analyzed during the growth of sugar cane, the relationship among nutrients and specifically among cations. It was found that the foliar content of N, P and K decreased, while Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, and Zn increased. The nutrient balance and the relationship among K, Ca and Mg were modified by the treatments.
