MEANING AND ROLES OF EQUIVALENT PACKAGE

The concept of equivalent package is put forward by the United Nations Dangerous Cargo Transportation Experts Committee in the Proposals for Dangerous Cargo Transportation (also named the United Nations Orange Book). In chapter 9 of the book, it says:" Considering the development of science and technology, the Proposals will not object to using the packaging containers different with the specifications stipulated in this chapter, as long as these containers are equivalent,can be accepted by the department responsible for the work and can bear the various tests provided here". This paper will give a discussion about the meaning and roles of "Equivalent Package".
