Vietnam Maritime Education and Training for Challenge in 21st Century

The maritime shipping has been changed rapidly in not only ships themselves, but also in manner of ships' operation. That makes the worldwide maritime education and training must respond to accordingly. Since the STCW 95 coming into force, the Vietnam Maritime University has complied with all the international requirements strictly that shows by evidences: renewed curriculum, improvement of teaching staff quality, reinforce of training facilities and creating good education environment. Thank to the good idea mentioned above for the Vietnam MET, the shipping industry in the country has been developed rapidly by 20% annually of merchant fleet, by 15% annually of newly built ships and the quality of maritime education and training has been much improved. In year 2000, Vietnam was named in MO White List among 70 countries worldwide.
