The Application of Systems Engineering to Telemedicine

A case study is presented of the application of the systems engineering process of BAE SYSTEMS to a telemedicine project for South Africa. It is an example of the successful transfer of technology from the defence to the civilian sector and shows how the company's systems engineering practices were effectively applied in this field. The conclusion reached is that a good systems engineering process should be adaptable and effective and that technology transfer is an ideal benchmark test for any such process.
