Using Stakeholder Mental Models to Create An Integrated COnceptual Model for Systems

This paper discusses initial findings from the research and developmet of a modeling tool that can be used by stakeholders. The goal of the tool is to allow stakeholders, who are not trained analysts, to create the first models of a system at the pre-requirements stage. The approach we used was to study how people reason about systems as they create initial models of systems. In addition to elarning about the models created, we discovered a meta-language that stakeholders use while reasoning about a system. Both of these are rich sources of information an analyst can quickly use to form an initial integrated concpet of the system.
