摘要

An improved bilateral mesh denoising (BMD) method which is effective and feature-preserving is presented in this paper. Compared with the BMD method, the algorithm was improved in two aspects. Firstly, the geodesic distance, instead of Euclidean distance, was adopted for the selection of neighboring vertices. Secondly, the way to calculate smoothing offsets was adjusted and a normal weight was introduced. This improved BMD method doesn't need to repeat the smoothing operations and could preserve the features of original model with relatively faster speed. Finally, examples were provided to graphically and numerically demonstrate the quality of our results.
