摘要

The experiences of visiting ancestral land may influence a sense of ethnic identity and belonging among ethnic minorities, but such experiences have not been much investigated. This study intended to explore the various meanings of visiting "home" among second and subsequent generations of Chinese Americans. In-depth individual interviews were conducted. The findings of this research revealed that majority of the tourists felt being outsider in China rather than feeling a sense of belonging. This result of this study suggested that "home" for ethnic minorities might not be their ancestral land but a place where they can associated with other minorities with the similar background.
