摘要

Under funding by the National Science Foundation, the MATEC curriculum development project has been challenged to provide community college faculty with curricula and materials for implementing two-year degree programs in semiconductor manufacturing technology. However, because of the nature of the manufacturing environment, students may never see a cleanroom until they start work. Their instructors also may never have seen a cleanroom before teaching about it. To bridge the school-to-work gap preparing work-ready high-tech manufacturing technicians, MATEC has "pushed the envelop" of multimedia and simulation techniques. Our experience has shown that currently, the envelope does not "give" indefinitely.
