Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) has been actively developed as a means of destroying hazardous organic, since most organic compounds, as well as the oxidant and combustion gas, are miscible in all proportions with water in supercritical condition. However, for the treatment of halogenated compounds, both corrosion problem by formation of acid and fouling problem by low solubility of inorganic salts should be considered for its successful application. In this study, continuous type anti-corrosive reactor was developed for the successful supercritical water oxidation of halogenated hydrocarbon. The experiments were conducted at various conditions (340-440 ??, 250-300 bar). 2,4- dichlorophenol was successfully destroyed up to ?Y99.99% without corrosion or fouling problems in the anti-corrosive continuous SCWO system.
