In the early period of the pregnancy, the radiological protection of the unborn child is of particular concern. Inrnseveral reports dose thresholds for deterministics effects as well as dose values that increase the probability ofrnstocastics effects have been established. The aim of this article was to estimate the peripheral dose (PD) in orderrnto evaluate the absorbed dose in utero for breast carcinoma treatment related to the radiotherapy proceduresrnestablished in our hospital. The treatment was simulated using an antropomorphic phantom Alderson – Rando,rnand two similar treatment planning with and without wedges were performed, taken into account the average fieldrnparameters used in 300 treatment planning patients. The PD values were determined with a NE 2571 ionizationrnchamber in a General Electric linac, for the treatments considered. Experimental measures provided dose in uterornvalues slightly higher than 5 cGy, dose threshold established in some articles for radioinduced effects in the fetus.rnThe planning system underestimated the PD values and no significant influence with the use of wedges wasrnfound.
