The main peculiarity of SiGES as an innovative system is easy and effective use, without the need for specific source data, according to a consequence analysis of risk. The system can manage the alarm and the evacuation of personnel in addition to the usual telephone lines, loudspeakers and winds-socks; moreover it can support the authorities in managing the emergency information for the population. SiGES will become a complementary system to the network of gas detectors (called "SIMAGE") that the authorities are going to install in Porto Marghera between industrial and residential areas. Moreover, the positioning of RUs in the authority headquarters is an important demonstration of transparency with regard to quick notification of any kind of accident, in compliance with site safety policy. All this will lead to an improvement in the effective coordination of emergency management in the Porto Marghera area.
