A new machining process suiting free surface of dies cavity -ultrasonic electrolysis polishing (UEP) is developed. The machining principle of the process is investigated. The contrast machining tests between UEP and electrolysis polishing (EP) on machining hardened T10 steel is made. The result shows that the metal-removal rate with UEP is 2.5 to 3.5 times as much as that with EP and the surface roughness Ra 0.025μm can be obtained steadily.
