AUTOSTEREOSCOPIC TECHNOLOGY CAN NOT REPLACE THE COMMON STEREOSCOPIC TECHNOLOGY

In virtual reality technologies, viewing system may be divided into two kinds: one needs to wear proper observational devices; the other is autostereoscopic technology, which does not need any viewing tools. The first technology has come into the markets and is applied widely, but the observational devices are not convenient and comfortable. And eyes are prone to be tired. Observers will have the pressure of the body and psychology, namely virtual reality sickness we often talk about. So, autostereoscopic display technology is the research hot all the while, and people think that the autostereoscopic technology will take the place of common stereoscopic technology. This paper introduces the home and overseas development of the autostereoscopic and stereoscopic display technology, and points out that the existing stereoscopic glasses should be combined with the numeral glasses whose eyeglass is two mini LCDs. We called the new kind of glasses "numeral stereoscopic glasses", which has the advantages of having huge inexpensive virtual screen and enjoying programs at any moment and everywhere without bothering others. Because of those advantages, autostereoscopic technology can not replace the common stereoscopic technology.
