The prediction of the temperature of the beam-to-beam connection based on the temperature of the lower flange of the beam, see Annex D of EN 1993-1-2:2005, was approved by the experiment till about 45 min of fire. The prediction may be improved by modification of the reduction factor 0,90 instead of 0,88 and 0,81 instead of 0,62. With this improvement will be the prediction conservative but will be valid all trough the grooving phase.rnAccording to the FE modelling is the largest difference in the beam and connection temperature during the medium time fire. Under the fast fire is the temperature predicted from the midspan lower flange temperature overestimated. Under the long fires the analytical prediction may underestimate the reached temperatures.rnThe new generation of the analytical models for the prediction of the temperature in the connections, which are under preparation as a background for European standard, are focussed to improve the prediction of the cooling phase of the fire curve.
