Value Chain Optimization for Multi-Modal Transportation Network

摘要

The multimodal (or so-called inter-modal) transportation network with the combination of road, rail, inland water, air and sea transport modes has been recognized as one of the most important strategies to modernize the global transportation. This paper begins with an introduction to the vital position of transportation infrastructure in global economy and business ecosystems strategies. The paper then presents the problem statement, mil-scale multimodal transport network with material, information and cash flows, and the win-win optimization solutions with collaboration between customer, transportation and third party logistics (3PL) companies under an e-business platform. Finally, the discussions are included in the concluding remarks section.
