ADOPTION OF SHINKANSEN CONVENTIONAL LINE THROUGH-SERVICE AND CONCURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF STATINON AND SURROUNDING AREA

Yamagata and Akita Shinkansen adopt the service that enables to get into the conventional line directly. This service enhances its convenience and brings advantages to neighboring areas. First, the number of railway users was increased, because its convenience such as eliminating transfer and overall travel duration was enhanced. Second, various projects such as construction of compound facilities, roadway, and parking lots, improvement of connected bus service, and development of the urban plan were implemented at neighboring areas as well as construction or reconstruction of station buildings by the adoption of Shinkansen's direct service. These efforts enhance the appeal of cities and this point makes railway development more attractive.
