Analysing growth in faces

We examine the changes in the profile of the human face with age. First the medial plane running down the middle of the face is found using a variant of the Iterative Closest Point Algorithm, optimising over the set of reflections. The boundary of the silhouette as viwed from the side is extracted. Landmarks are found using bitangent lines and extremals of distance. A representation of size and shape is found using Procrustes Analysis. Principal Component Analysis is used to examine how size and shape varies with growth. Promising early results are presented.
