Anions are the impurities contained in the iron oxide used as one of the principal raw materials of soft ferrites. The iron oxides are produced from the chloride or sulfate irons, that are refined from the waste liquid used for acid washing. In this paper, the effects of anions on sintering behavior of NiCuZn ferrite are investigated. The sintered densities of NiCuZn ferrites are not effected by the addition of anions. However the beginning temperatures of shrinkage are slightly shifted to higher temperature. The diffusion mechanism at the initial stage of sintering changes from the grain boundary diffusion to the bulk diffusion by the addition of anions. Reaction products of CuO and anions could change the diffusion mechanism.
