摘要

The diamond tools cannot be used for cutting hard-and-brittle materials because of unavoidable tool wear and chipping. We have built a test bench for examining diamond-wear against rotating disks made of hard-and-brittle materials such as tungsten carbide and alumina ceramics under the different thrust forces and atmospheres. Through the experiments following results are obtained. The higher the thrust force against tungsten carbide and alumina ceramics, the greater the diamond-wear. Diamond-wear against tungsten carbide is strongly affected by thrust force. Diamond-wear against tungsten carbide and alumina ceramics is greater under nitrogen-gas and argon-gas atmosphere than that in ambient air. Diamond-wear against tungsten carbide under nitrogen-gas atmosphere is the greatest among all of the experiments.
