In the fuel cell engine control system, not only the parameters should be modified on-line, but also the modified parameters can be preserved in case of power failure, so as to restore the previous state when power recovers. Thus the configured EEPROM is just right for implementing the above functions. Serial EEPROM doesn't need complex bus for address, data and control. It can meet the needs only by a few pieces of wire, which save a great deal of hardware resources. This paper presents the performance of serial EEPROM 25AA640 as well as time sequence of its hardware interface, the main characteristic of SPI module in the DPS chip TMS320F2812, the methods of the software programming of interface and the interface debugging between EEPROM 25AA640 and TMS320F2812. It is successfully applied in the further development of the fuel cell engine.
