The effect of HIP process on Ti(C,N)-based cermet was discussed. HIP is beneficial to increase the density. The higher the temperature, the less the average density of cermet is. By appropriate vacuum sintering, HIP has great influence on the bending strength of cermet. To the materials with coarse microstructure, the bending strength of samples treated with solid phase sintering and HIP is higher than treated with HIP only. Pre-sintering and microstructure should also be considered to draw HIP process besides composition. The craft of HIP should be studied further.
