AUTHORING ENVIRONMENT SYSTEM FOR CREATING TEACHING FILES FROM PACS

Recently the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard has added a mechanism for generating and distributing medical reports -Structured Reporting (SR). Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) that implement DICOM services have now the possibility to archive medical reports together with associated images. PACS is a rich source of information for creating teaching files. A web-based authoring environment system that facilitates the elaboration of SR documents and images from PACS for research and educational purposes was developed, offering mechanisms of medical reports analysis in order to create teaching files that can be shared with Medical image Resource Center (MIRC) interface.
