This study investigated the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at gas service station when gasoline is injected to automobile from storage tank. During gasoline injection to automobile, VOCs are emitted mostly from injection stage in the fuel tank of automobile and from spillage at gasoline station. To estimate the emission characteristics of VOCs at injection stage, laboratory scale and field tests were carried out. A regression relationship obtained from laboratory scale experiments was in correspondence with the result of field tests. VOCs emission was strongly affected by gasoline temperature, but it was slightly affected by injection rate and amount of gasoline. The amount of VOCs emitted was increased with the temperature of gasoline. The VOCs emission at injection stage estimated in this study was a little less than US EPA's value. On the other hand VOCs generation from the spillage stage calculated in this study was almost same as US EPA's value.
