The kinetic analyses of the pyrolysis reaction of Thai rice husk have been performed and their kinetic parameters (the distribution curve of the activation energy, f(E), and the activation energy dependent frequency factor, k_0(E)) were estimated by utilizing a distributed activation energy model (DAEM) proposed by Miura et al. (Miura K, Maki T. Energy Fuels 1998;12:864). Experiments were carried out by means of thermogravimetric analysis at three different heating rates of 5, 10, and 20 ℃/min. The weight loss data was then scrutinized to kinetic analysis. Changes of the functional groups during the pyrolysis of the rice husk were measured by using an FTIR spectrometer. Based on these measurements the reaction mechanism was discussed.
