摘要

The parabolic bay shape equation for headland-bay beaches in static equilibrium has now become popular for beach design and shore protection. To improve the accuracy in applying this equation for beach design, the three C coefficients in this equation are recalibrated using a large set of field data from static bays in Brazil. In addition, the effect of varying downdrift control point along a bay periphery is also investigated. The resultant bay shape using the original set of C coefficients and the recalibrated agrees well with that using GENESIS and the Spanish SMC model. Therefore, it may be concluded that the parabolic bay shape model is flexible on the selection of a downdrift control point, and the equation has sufficient accuracy for practical applications.
