摘要

The STL file format has quickly become a de facto standard throughout the rapid prototyping industry. The reason for its popularity is simple: the STL file is easy to generate and does not require sophisticated CAD systems for support. However, STL format is approximated representation of a true solid model, and a huge amount of STL data is needed to provide sufficient accuracy for rapid prototyping. In this paper the fitting technology of section contour of STL model based on NURBS curve is brought forward. For improving precision of curve fitting, the section contours are processed by setting the line segment threshold value and corner threshold value. Section contours are made smoother and more precise by reconstruction of section contour.
