摘要

The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method, coupled with a Large Eddy Simulationrn(LES) as a sub-particle scale turbulence model, is proposed to simulate waves overtopping arncurtain breakwater. The SPH model solves the Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations by Lagrangianrnapproaches and no grid is needed in the computations. Thus free surfaces can be easily andrnaccurately tracked by particles without numerical diffusion. Classical SPH kernel functions arernreviewed and the N-S equation solver is developed based on a semi-implicit algorithm ofrnpressure projection. The accuracy of the SPH model is validated through available data from arnwave flume experiment. The agreement between experimental and numerical wave profiles isrnquite satisfactory. The efficiency of the incorporated LES model is further demonstrated by therncomputed velocity and turbulence eddy viscosity distributions of the overtopping flow. The findingsrnin the paper will provide a good understanding on wave mechanics in coastal areas.
