HYDRODYNAMIC CHARACTERS OF THE COASTAL AREA OF BOHAI BAY

摘要

Bohai Bay is a semi-closed sea bay with shallow water and mild slope, and thernenvironment in the coastal area of this bay has been polluted seriously in the recentrndecades. In this paper, the hydrodynamic characters of Bohai Bay have been studiedrnby using a series of numerical models that had been set up for Bohai Bay and verifiedrnwith the field measured and experimental data. The numerical results show that thernresidential tidal current in Bohai Bay is very weak, and the water exchange betweenrnBohai Bay and the central Bohai Sea is poor; and it is also found that the impact onrnpollutant transport due to water waves and wave-induced near-shore currents in therncoastal area of Bohai Bay is significant.
