Technical Building Blocks for Product Lifecycle Management in Virtual Enterprise Ecosystem

To address rapidly changing requirements of customers, product lifecycle management has recently been recognized as the key technology that can provide customers, developers, manufacturers, and suppliers with the most effective services by collaboratively managing business activities throughout entire product lifecycle. To address such a need, a framework of technical building blocks for constructing a product lifecycle management system is proposed in this paper. These technical building blocks include product lifecycle portal, collaborative product services, product trade exchange, product lifecycle process management, design process management, product lifecycle knowledge management, and product lifecycle information management. It is expected that the development of such a framework will lay the frontier basis for further research on the collaborative product lifecycle management domain.
