摘要

All equipment or asset has an inherent reliability characteristic - a DNA code. This code is established at the design and construction stage of an asset. Within the equipment lifetime, this code can be corrupted and performance will start to deteriorate. This change in the performance is resulting from all the interaction with the equipment. The interactions are combined / classified in four typical gates: Operating, Maintaining, Environmental and External. We need the Asset strategy to be developed in a way to ensure the equipment reliability code is protected for its entire lifecycle. This can be done by utilizing holistic defect elimination principles (Hatch Gateway process). This paper discusses fundamental elements of the Hatch Gateway methodology for developing a holistic asset strategy, which delivers better overall performance in terms of reliability and cost while maintaining high safety standards.
