Recovery and Reuse of By-product Obtained in Preparation of HNIW from TADBIW

3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (DNBA), a by-product in the production of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW) from tetraace-tyldibenzylhexaazaisowurtzitane (TADBIW), was recovered at 3~8 ℃ with the yield of 81.1% and reused to synthesize 7-amino-6-nitrobenzodifuroxan (ANBDF) through a three-step reaction. The solubility curves of DNBA in water and 20% sulfuric acid were obtained, which was very useful to determine the recovery condition of DNBA. The structure of the synthesized ANBDF was testified by IR, ~1HNMR, MS (FAB) and elemental analysis. ANBDF contains amino-group, nitro-group and benzofuroxan ring which are on the benzene ring and are on the same plane. This particular structure characterizes its high density, high energy and low sensitivity.
