For lightning flashes to a tall structurepeculiar in winter, in order to study the characteristicsof the magnetic field and the propagation anddistribution of lightning stroke current along thelightning channel and the tall structure, we attemptedto simultaneously observe the lightning current andthe magnetic field at five points caused by winterlightning striking a high chimney. The distances of theobservation sites from the chimney are from 300m to10km. The measurement systems of all sites aretriggered simultaneously using optical-fiber cables.We discuss the results and analysis of the magneticfields simultaneously observed at multiple observationpoints. When the propagation and distribution oflightning current along the chimney are taken intoaccount in the magnetic field calculation, the observedmagnetic fields agree with the calculated ones at allfive points.
