Preparation of Co-doped TiO_2 with F and Fe and Its Photo catalysis under Visible Light

Indoor air pollution seriously threats the health of human beings. The photocatalytic oxidation of pollutants based on TiO_2 is a promising indoor air purification technology. However, due to the low efficiency under visible light, the application of TiO_2 has been restricted. To solve the restriction, a series of co-doped TiO_2 samples with F and Fe elements were prepared by a sol-gel method in this paper. After study on the prepared samples, the results showed that the photocatalytic activity of co-doped TiO_2 prepared with the conditions of 1at % F, 0.06 at% Fe, calcinated at 500 ℃, was the highest. The influence order of the factors on the photocatalytic activity of catalysts was the percentage of F > the percentage of Fe > the calcination temperature. The visible light photocatalytic activity of co-doped TiO_2 with F and Fe element is resulted from the red shift in the light absorption edge and the decrease of the particle size.
