DETAILED DETERMINATION OF PCB CONGENERS IN INSULATING OIL SAMPLES FROM CHINESE ELECTRICAL CAPACITORS BY HRGC/HRMS

[Introduction] Homologue and congener profiles of various PCB formulations are useful for the source appointment. Although the profiles of many commercial PCB products have been reported previously, there's no report about that of Chinese PCB formulation used in electrical capacitors. [Materials and Methods] PCB congeners in two insulating oil samples from Chinese electrical capacitors were determined by isotope dilution HRGC/HRMS, in order to investigate the homologue and isomer profiles of PCBs. [Results and Discussion] TriCBs, TetraCBs, and DiCBs were found to be most abundant. There's no obvious difference in profile between the mixed sample from multiple electrical capacitors and the sample from a specific capacitor, which is similar to that of Japanese PCBs formulation KC300. Detailed information about the isomer profiles of three dominant homologues has also been given in the paper.
